Ambient Air Monitoring

Ambient Air Monitoring

Globally, ambient air quality regulations are becoming stricter and the penalties for violating them are severe. The ability to accurately, quickly and efficiently monitor harmful chemicals and combustible gases is crucial in order to comply with these regulations.

Ambient Air Monitoring for industrial hygiene and emissions monitoring using Extrel’s MAX300 Series Process Mass Spectrometers provide high speed analysis of multiple chemical compounds from several locations with detection limits as low as 10 parts per billion (ppb). The Extrel FASTValve expands the systems capabilities by analyzing up to 80 sample points per valve assembly. The MAX300-AIR Environmental Gas Analyzer also can be configured to monitor a larger number of samples, with the use of several different valve combinations. This gives the MAX300-AIR Environmental Gas Analyzer the largest sample capacity available for a process mass spectrometer.

Applications

  • Analysis of atmosphere in Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) plants
  • Analysis of atmosphere in Benzene, Toluene, Xylene (BTX) plants
  • Workplace monitoring in general manufacturing industries that use toxic chemicals, such as specialty chemicals and specialty gases

The flexibility of the MAX300 Series Questor® 5 Software allows users to add components and change analysis methods. To calculate Time Weighted Averages (TWA) for component concentrations, Extrel also offers TWA Reporting Package Software. Reports can be executed manually or programmed to run at specified time intervals, such as at the end of a shift, daily or weekly. Eight (8) report templates provide details or summaries of analysis, alarms and events. Custom reports are also available upon request.

Due to the speed of response, component selectivity and unmatched accuracy and precision of the MAX300-LG Laboratory Gas Analyzer and MAX300-AIR Environmental Gas Analyzer, the MAX300 Series has become the worldwide analyzer of choice for ambient air monitoring applications. Extrel has installed more than 70 ambient air monitoring systems worldwide, many of which have been in operation for over 15 years.

For nearly 35 years, Extrel has produced process mass spectrometers for industrial applications with the reliability and performance needed for demanding applications in the toughest environments.
