Extrel employees created five teams that participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Pineapple Classic 5K on September 15, 2012 at Hartwood Acres. Participants raced through an exciting combination of a 5K run and an obstacle course all while carrying a team pineapple! Extrel employees raised nearly $6,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help fight blood cancers. LLS is devoted to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Our efforts as a group to support the battle against cancer was a great experience, not only for my department, but for the company as a whole, said Carla Luke, Extrel Service Manager. The teams raised funds through creative fundraisers at Extrel including raffles, breakfast, lunch, and an ice cream party. Two Extrel teams placed first in their divisions in the race. This flourishing event raised over $50,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
